Complementary Therapy
Complementary Therapy is a treatment that is intended to treat the individual as a whole on all levels - mind, body & spirit.
Complementary Therapies are relatively new to the Western world, but have been widely practised and formed a way of life to Eastern cultures for centuries.
Hieroglyphics from 12000 BC depict hand & foot reflexology being practised on individuals, whilst medicinal herbs and aroma oils formed the health care. The recognition and working of the bodies energy meridians as used in acupuncture and acupressure have been practised for 4000 years.
Over time, complementary therapies have adapted and changed to suit the current time period and place; acupuncture in China, Ayurvedic therapy in India, herbal medicines in Native America.
Yet however different these treatments may appear, they are all designed to work with the bodies natural healing energies to bring the body into a state of harmony and balance, well-being and good health.
Over the last hundred years, essential oils, colour, sound and crystal therapy have all added to the complementary therapies repertoire to fulfil the need to heal by different experiences.
The Complementary Therapy qualifications can be studied at both Level 2 and 3, or certain qualifications as single study units.
