NVQ 1
This course is an exciting introduction to the hair industry. Its aim is for learners to assist technical staff in the salon. This qualification is excellent for school links 14-16 programmes and learners disengaged with conventional school curriculum.
NVQ 2
This dynamic course is the foundation for an inspiring career in hairdressing. The course covers basic skills and knowledge, giving you the minimum standard required to work effectively in a salon as a novice hairdresser. You can also study for this qualification as an apprentice.
NVQ 3
Candidates applying to study NVQ3 Hairdressing must have completed NVQ2 with working salon experience as a stylist to ensure their basic skills are current and up to date. This is the target qualification for anyone wanting to be a truly proficient professional in his or her chosen field. It expands the basic knowledge and skills of Level 2 and is aimed at those wishing to enter the top level of their profession, or go on to become salon managers or owners. You can also study for this qualification as an apprentice.
